Hi guys, because many devs asked for this feature, I added optional Freemius licensing support to WPBay.

This is mainly for sellers who already use Freemius in their plugins and want to list those products on WPBay without replacing their existing licensing system or maintaining a separate codebase.

You can now connect a Freemius product to a WPBay product. When a customer purchases through WPBay, WPBay can automatically create the corresponding Freemius license.

In this setup:

- WPBay handles the purchase

- WPBay handles subscriptions and renewals

- Your plugin can keep using the existing Freemius SDK

- License activation and updates can continue through Freemius

- You do not need to integrate the WPBay SDK just for licensing

This integration is completely optional.

If you are already using the WPBay SDK and WPBay licensing system, nothing changes and you can continue using it exactly as before. For new products, you can also simply use the WPBay SDK without involving Freemius at all.

The Freemius integration should be used only when it makes sense for an existing product that already depends on that ecosystem.

The important rule is that the actual sale must still happen on WPBay. Customers should not be redirected elsewhere to purchase, renew or pay for another license. WPBay remains responsible for the marketplace transaction, while Freemius can be used for activation and update delivery.

I mainly added this to make migration easier for existing plugin developers who already have a working Freemius setup and do not want to rework their licensing code just to sell on WPBay.

Note that this works only for Plugins and Themes. To activate this, edit your product (in case of new products, save it as draft), go to the ‘General Details’ tab and search for ‘Freemius integration’ → add your Freemius product ID, Freemius Product API Bearer token (to get it, open the Freemius dashboard, select your product, then go to Settings → API & Keys). If you want to allow Freemius to send activation details to WPBay, set up also a webhook (details on this in WPBay admin menu).

Note that your Freemius agreement and external-sales fees apply.

I’ll also publish a setup guide and tutorial video showing how to connect an existing Freemius product to WPBay and how the full purchase, activation and renewal flow works.

I hope many of you guys will find this new feature useful.

Cheers!
