12 Submissions today. 12 Rejections today

Today I reviewed 12 new plugin submissions on WPBay. Unfortunately, all 12 were rejected.

The pattern is becoming really obvious… people create code using AI fast + a quick doc/description for it and they expect to start earning money from it. No testing, cleanup, documentation or understanding why the customer would want to buy that piece of code, in the first place…

That is to be expected, everybnody tinks now they can do a commerical app unsing a single prompt, it will never happen!

I want to add this for those who what to cheat, the reviewer here is a senior WordPress developer, you can’t chat away into this

We will see this more and more but it will never work, I am seeing now on youtube GPT ASTRA can do this and that, coding is dead, desingers are cooked and all kind of apolcatiptic titles… but literally none of those WOW projects are finished and they will never be because we all know here what it take to have a proper prodcut to sell, that requres skill, passion and dedication.

Personally even thoug I can barely survive this period financially I am happy that this is happening because all so called devs that do not belong in the bussines will be gone, web developers will have value again and only those who deserve it will remain in the game.

All AI vibe coded projects will never be finished, they will have bugs that the builder dose not even know they are there, they will have missing feautures and no attention to details, adn the list continues since the buildr has not idea what his doing… and this is why our skill still matter not as much as before right now but more than before in the near future when the world will realize that you need to know what you are doing using AI!

This applies to all trades not just web development!

I agree with how things currently are. But what makes you so sure coding capabilities won’t massively improve ?

I could totally see a future where the coding part is massively solved. And then anyone with good taste and attention to detail can do good software?

Is nto about code is about the atchitecture you need to be able to code to understnad how to architect put togher stuff, of course AI will get better and better at everythign not just code.

Coding is solved now but to build an actual app still require skills and to understand how is done otherwise how do you even know youa re doing the right thing.

Do you think you can architect/build a car just because AI will make most of it for you if you do not understand it? NOPE, you dont even know what you did!

Same applies to an acutal app, just look on youtube on all the videos where everytbody is impressed that they made a game or some cool app for example from a prompt up to a point where you start to use it and you see so many issues that you don’t even know how to explain them to AI since your techincal knowledge about it are zero.

Common guys we are not idiots after so many years of doing software…

I agree with you about the current state of things, but my question is why can’t AI just learn to do good architecture?

Maybe in 5 years, or maybe in 15 years, but I feel like it’s just a matter of time.

I don’t like to think this, it’s very bad news for my job, but I feel like what we call “architecture” it’s just a bit of basic logic and asking some questions like:

  • “How does this feature get extended in the future?”
  • “Is this code minimal and clean?”
  • “Can this be written with less code?”
  • “What should this function output strictly speaking?”

Like I don’t think it’s “magic human brains”, just a bit of intelligence and experience…

One more pessimistic thought (sorry!)

Look at chess, Kasparov vs. AI was like a big event.

Today there’s no competition at all.

Will that be our future as well? programming just as a hobby? Will there be huge datacenters at Google and Nvidia: the accountants division, the programmers’ division, air traffic controllers, etc. etc?

We’re gonna be reduced to manual labor, cleaning the floors, while AIs laugh at us and call us “meat-sacks”, in the same way they’re called clankers today?

AI will get soo good that it will feel like magic but how do you know you are doing the right thing if you have zero knoledge about the subject?

Probably will end up like in movies we will all get dumb and AI will do everyuthing for us, hopefully it will not happen for now this is the reality, you need to know what you are doing to use AI otherwise is just slop…

I am building an an app and I go in segmetnts on each segment I had to fix a lot of mistakes it made and guide it to do the right thing, the “make me this and make no mistakse” will never work unless you know what that “this” is and have good knowledge about it.

Nobody know at this point all we can do is to move on and do our best… is not just about programmers we are first it will come for everything!

Yes, maybe the right way to look at it is:

We have 5-10 years left to milk this cow  Let’s focus and lock in!

Afterwards, we can become Full Stack Plumbers, the market will be flowering.

Nah there will be nothing left, I have planted this year 140 fruit three, and a filed of blueberries, next year I will plant an entire forst of chestnut, than I will raise pigs, than chikens, and keep going… joke aside AI is comming for everything but I still believe experinece will make the difference…

Just think about it, how will you build something with AI if you have zero knoledge about the subject? Don’t tell me you will learn software development in a few weeks, common is the harders s*it you can learn…

I really don’t know how the future will look like but AI is advancing too fast for us to keep up that’s a fact…
