Hey fellow WPBayers,
We now require all sellers to submit a tax profile through their vendor dashboard. This applies to everyone, regardless of where you’re based.
To sum why this is needed: marketplaces like WPBay are required by international law to collect, verify and retain certain tax-related information about sellers. Not doing this properly is not an option if we want the platform to keep operating long-term.
What does this actually mean for you as a seller? You’ll see a new ‘Tax Profile’ section in your Vendor Dashboard. The form is simple and it adapts based on your situation and location. US sellers will be asked for W-9 form, while non-US sellers will complete a W-8 form. Also, if you’re in the EU/EEA, there are a few extra fields required under DAC7 rules.
All submissions are reviewed manually before approval. Submitting the form puts your tax profile into a review state. Once approved, it’s valid for a fixed period (3-4 years usually), after which, it needs to be resubmitted (this is also required by law). You will be reminded to resubmit the form, shortly before it expires.
If you’re unsure about any part of the form, feel free to reach out to us. Submitting incorrect information will just slow things down for everyone.
And as always, I am happy to hear feedback or questions here on the forum.
Cheers!
