Well⌠this is not something I expected to wake up to today.
Apparently Anthropic had to suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for foreign nationals due to a U.S. government export control directive. According to their statement, this affects users both inside and outside the United States.
Because Anthropic could not control who the foreign nationals were, they banned access to Fable for all users. But they objected in a lengthy article that they did not agree with this decision, saying that they had made the model safe enough to use.

The problem is that Anthropic has talked a lot in recent months about how dangerous these advanced models are, but this strategy has backfired on them, as their goal was to get money from companies and investors. But they achieved more: fear in the market, including at the government level, of what AI can do in terms of security/safety. âŁ
This is a pretty big moment for AI. Weâve all gotten used to thinking about model availability in terms of pricing, if you had money to pay them, you were free to abuse the models as you wished. Makes me wonder where things are heading from here, I suspect that we going to see more restrictions on advanced AI models, especially for non-US people.
Does this make open-source models even more important? China will move in response to make an open source model, similar to Mythos. They did this move already when Deep Seek was released.
Nothing will change dramatichally from this point on this are LLMS they can learn up to a point after that who knows but it is seen for example in gpt I see absolutely no differcen betwee gpt 5.3 and 5.5 ⌠of course they will invent naratives to specualte because they played this card to perfection I mean the entire plante think we have AI and for a long time all of us though this is a cheap⌠is not AI is some fancy word completion expensive as s*it it turned the world upside down⌠are there any benefits yes but the world could do just fine without it it, today is more destuctive than anything we invetentedâŚ
At this pint all models are kinda the same pefromance wise, I donât notice any difference for the top models,t he hype is done now they will face reality and it will hurt bad!
I did some in-depth business analysis with Fable yesterday. Itâs useless because if you spend 5 minutes thinking about something it said, and reply back with concerns or challenges, it concedes all your points:
The only value I see in it for this kind of consultancy, is to treat it as a brainstorming partner, albeit a half-retarded, quick-to-reach-conclusions one.
Now that the hype is fading, theyâre trying to find new ways to impress or batter said scare us, but theyâve already scared the s**t out of us. This has become one of the most hated technologies ever, and the CEOs are to blame for it.
By constantly pushing apocalyptic scenarios and talking about replacing humanity, they created fear instead of excitement, rememebr GPT 2 and 3 it was great all of us were amazd of it⌠If the message had been about augmenting human abilitie, which is what AI is actually best at, since better users produce better result, the public reaction could have been very different.
Now theyâre paying the price for that messaging, and itâs already started, they are changing their propaganda but the harm was done, the young generation is f*cked ,no jobs no future, the IT industry is on life support and and of course they want to do the same everywhere in all proffesion so that in the future there is not point to use our brain but just prompt everything like when shuld I go to sleep, what shuld I eat and everntually, is breathing bad for me? So stupiddddddddddd!
Of course, this is how AI has always worked, itâs driven by fear.
I know this might sound dumb, but AI is really just a very powerful tool. Yes, it can write most of the code, but only under my close supervision as an engineer. From my perspective, nothing has fundamentally changed. I just donât have to spend my time typing out the code anymore, I spend my time reading it, reviewing it, organize it, make it better and making sure itâs correct.
Now that theyâve âsolvedâ coding, theyâre trying to do the same thing in other industries because it worked so well there.
All these claims that AI can build anything and replace everyone are already hurting people. Many business owners who know little about design, coding, or editing now believe AI can do almost everything. Because of that, they expect employees to do more work for less pay, simply because they think AI has made the job easy.
