So is coding solved now 
Working with AI more and more indeed I donāt write much code this days and to be honest I am starting to love it BUT, the way I build my work did not really changed much, still my ideas are put into code, I have to follow the code and most of the time fix it, so overall not much changed except it got easierā¦
In the end we are engeneers not codersā¦
Some AI companies are working now on models which are able to generate compiled executables without providing any source code, like directly creating a game without even having the source code for it.
They are pushing hard toward making source code only an invisible intermediate layer or eventually removing it completelyā¦ Natural language becomes the specification, while AI handles the implementation.
Future sounds crazyā¦ especially for us who know what this might meanā¦
Considering that we are engeneering stuff I donāt see workingā¦ even know with the latest modles I have to guide it in spteps and I clearly understand what I want, the āmake me youtube and make no mistakesā is a wet dream of CEOās but it will never work for obvious reasonsā¦
Just my opinion,
A lot of coding IS solved.
The problem is not the customer vibe-coding their own apps - of course - no serious business will do that. But we will face A LOT more competition - any kid in India or Bangladesh or whatever, with an internet connection and time on their hands can now be our competitor if theyāre smart enough.
The question I am asking myself is:
Where can I provide value better than anyone else in the world, even with AI?
The way I see it is that I must handle MORE complexity, more difficult things. Not just code, but maybe a platform, hosting, responsibility, backups, SLA, etc.
What do you guys think? How can a developer like us still be better than anyone else?
Considering how much konwledge is required to create a compelx app I doubt that a kid in India can do itā¦ we will see, now it canāt be done at the level of details of a senior dev, is literally impossible just look at the slop created around us you can see from a mile away that is s*itā¦
We need to figure out distribution, as if the Indian kid creates the best plugin ever, he cannot sell it, it will not get any visibility and sales.
Also, implementing really complex stuff is also something we can try, but with great power, comes great responsibility, as some spider guy once said.
Thatās a good point, so ultimately it still comes down to whoās the best at marketing!
I get your point, Iāve seen the slop going around. But still you cannot deny there will be an increase in the competition rate. We can debate if thatās 1.5x, 3x, 10x etc but itās not zero. Itās just too easy now to learn anything! no fiddling with stackoverflow, no hunt for ātutorialsā, etc.
Yes I agree, I am jsut about to realease a prodcut that i woudl have not dear to go into witout AI and defenitely I will make some noise for those who already have it built, but this is not necessarily a bad thing.
At this point marketing and distribution are the most important aspect of all, it was before as well but Envato took care of that!
