Hi everyone,
WPBay now supports the new EU regulation “right of withdrawal”. It’s one of those things that’s not particularly exciting, but it’s important to have it implemented properly.
From now on, if a buyer is an EU based consumer (a private individual, not a company), they can request a refund within 14 days and the request will be automatically approved if the product hasn’t been digitally consumed.
In practice, that means all of these must be true:
-
The product hasn’t been downloaded.
-
The purchase code hasn’t been viewed.
-
The purchase code hasn’t been activated.
As soon as any of those happen, the automatic withdrawal no longer applies, since the digital content has already been accessed. In this case, the customer can create a regular refund request, which needs to be approved by the seller to be processed.
This only applies to EU natural persons buying as consumers. It does not apply to companies or buyers outside the EU.
I don’t expect this to affect sellers much in reality, because most buyers download their purchase immediately after purchasing. I just wanted to make sure WPBay follows the regulations while also protecting sellers from unnecessary refund requests.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to post below.
Thanks!
Szabi
