🎤 Let's Get to Know Each Other – Introduce Yourself!

Hey folks :waving_hand:,

Now that WPBay is officially live (woohoo! :tada:), I thought it’d be fun to kick things off in the Off-Topic Lounge with a little get-to-know-you thread.

Whether you’re a plugin wizard :mage:, a theme artisan :artist_palette:, or just here to explore and vibe — we’d love to hear from you.

Here’s a few prompts to break the ice:

  • Name or Nickname:
  • Where you’re from:
  • What you build (plugins, themes, both?):
  • One fun/nerdy fact about you:
  • What do you hope to find or build here on WPBay?

I’ll go first…

Name: Szabi
From: Cluj-Napoca, Romania :romania:
What I build: Mostly automation plugins, but I’ve dabbled into creating custom APIs too.
Fun fact: I enjoy creating short and funny WordPress related videos, like this one or this one.
Hopes for WPBay: To create the kind of marketplace I wish existed 10 years ago — and to watch devs collaborate, succeed, and earn what they truly deserve.

Alright, your turn! Let’s get this lounge buzzing!

Good evening to you all - I would like to introduce myself to this forum so here it goes:

Name or Nickname: Most people will know me as 123Simples.
Where you’re from: I’m in the UK (United Kingdom) so right now it is 18.39 GMT, warm and dry. Better than we normally get weather wise
What you build (plugins, themes, both?): I build websites, we host websites for over 140 clients and never got around to actually selling anything on Envato.
One fun/nerdy fact about you: I enjoy creative talent, and we all learn from each other in one way or another. On another forum I served as a Moderator and worked hard to help people.
I have been a web developer since 2007 and worked with Windows when it was loading on floppy discs. I am proficient in most Microsoft Software, Adobe Software, using Ultraedit and a lot more besides.
What do you hope to find or build here on WPBay? I will admit that I seldom use Wordpress Themes for client projects but that does not mean I cannot work my way around them. I would like to see this forum build on creating a place where other creatives can come together, and talk about their projects, or even get help as and when.

Welcome to WPBay, @123Simples.

Glad to have you here. Sounds like you’ve got much experience under your belt, both with development and with helping others out in communities. Hosting for 140 clients is no small thing either, that’s solid. Even if you don’t usually lean on WordPress themes, it’s clear you know your way around the tools and the business side of things.

I think you’ll fit in well here. The idea is exactly what you mentioned: building a space where people can share, learn, and support each other without all the noise you get on bigger platforms. Looking forward to seeing your input and what you’ll bring to the conversations.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum @123Simples !

I started my internet and web dev journey around 2007 as well. I think online communities were a bit more engaging, interesting and personal back then. Maybe something about the old vBulletin type forums.

Nowadays I feel it’s harder to engage with people online, it’s either anonymous threads stuff like Reddit, or X where it’s more about WHO you are and how many followers you have.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you around!

Thank you.

Yes I agree with you about communities being more engaging. I have been a forum moderator on 2 forums - both of which were about engaging with like-minded people. Mostly to do with work and support.

I am not one of these people that go on stuff just so I can follow them and hear what they ate for dinner, or how sad their life might be

I know from experience, with any forum, as it builds up, then so do the scammers and spammers. It’s always an issue as a website gains popularity. Looking forward to seeing how this journey pans out.
Best wishes
