Hi everyone,
I have been experimenting with a new feature for WPBay products and it is rolled out now, it is a new Product Health tab for products.
The goal is to give buyers a clear picture of how actively a product is maintained, without relying only on ratings, sales or the date shown on the listing.
The snapshot looks at some product specifications such as recent updates, WordPress/PHP/WooCommerce compatibility from meta data, releases during the last 12 months, developer activity (last login), support responsiveness, documentation, changelogs and demos/previews data.
For sellers only, WPBay also provides a private Health Score out of 100, maintenance-risk indicators, 90-day history and suggested next steps for improving or maintaining the score. These internal scores and risk indicators are not shown to buyers.
I implemented this because a good marketplace should help buyers understand if a product is actively cared for, while also giving developers a way to demonstrate maintenance work they continue to put in their products. The system is deterministic, adapts to plugins, themes and scripts and does not use sales or ratings (this will be displayed separately).
Hopefully this makes choosing products a easier for customers and encourages a healthier WPBay catalog over the long term.
Let me know any idea/suggestion you have.
