Nice ribbons - threejs experiment

Hi everyone,

This is a browser-based Three.js visual where animated 3D ribbons are generated from a procedural curve, textured on both sides, lit in real time, and smoothly moved through UV scrolling to create a flowing motion effect.

Stefan’s idea of combining all these effects into a “Stunning Effect Plugin” sounds really good, it would be very powerful for many websites.

Congrats for creating the effects!

It is actually a really good idea, and I’ve noted it. However, I’m really confused about what is happening overall with the market. Two years ago, if I had created any of the latest sliders I’ve made recently, I would have had a lot of sales. Now it is literally dead. This month, I don’t know if I’ll even make $500.

So I’m at a crossroads. I’ve started working on the course I told you guys about here, and I’m finishing the final project that I’ll be teaching, a really cool radio player. I’ll also mention WPBay in the course. Hopefully, this will help get some traction because it’s really depressing seeing what is happening. Imagine being a junior developer now or lsoing your job as a dev…

I keep thinking about AI, and yes, it is very, very good. But no matter how good it gets, it will never architect your ideas for you, you still need to know what you’re doing, and I don’t think that will ever change, no matter what kind of AI we have. There are just too many details in a commercial project, and that can only truly be handled by the engineer.

Either way, it’s a disaster right now. I hope things will get better in the future.

The same here, I have 350$ on CodeCanyon for this month, plus some sales on WPBay (around 600$), so it’s definitely not what it used to be.

I don’t think it’s “dead”, but it’s clearly not the same game anymore… I’m also thinking to push harder on the marketing side, probably larger paid campaigns soon, just to test what still works and what not.

Also like your idea with the course! That kind of marketing might matter more now than the product itself.

Let’s see where this goes.

I really want to share my knowledge. I’ve been doing this since 2000, so I have a lot of experience, and I feel ready for it. We’ll see.

And yes, we need to sell our work. Until now, Envato did that for us, but now it’s on us to find the way.

I’ve never seen anybody teaching how to build a commercial app and actually put it up for sale. I’m planning to be raw as well, not corporate, just really straightforward, and actually show the full process of creating a commercial app so users understand it can’t be done with a prompt, because right now everybody thinks they can prompt anything… until they get stuck

That should be what people need right now. There are tons of “learn to code” and “prompt this, prompt that” stuff out there, but almost nobody shows how to actually build something real and sell it. If that can be thought, it is huge.

And yeah.. Envato was doing the selling for us. Now we have to think like builders + marketers, not just devs.

I hope this will actually create opportunities for us, I like to be optimistic.

I am sure we will shine again I have no doubt about that but it will not be easy
