Welcome to WPBay Developers & Sellers Community! šŸ‘‹

This is what is bugging me since this madness started, it just does not make any sense.

They reject items that are completely fine if they agree that it will not sale…

That’s what happens when someone is not an owner.

Easy to play with other people’s money and work.

Same thing with government.

Founder-led companies are the strongest:

  • See Elon’s companies
  • Zuckerberg
  • Google only got better recently with Gemini after Sergey Brin returned to lead it.
  • Amazon has Bezos, etc.

When you have a CEO, it’s more of a game of ā€œlet’s not f**k this upā€. No vision of growth, more about fear and loss aversion.

In the best cases, you get a Tim Cook at Apple, competent manager but not a visionary. Worst cases, you get Envato.

I wish I could speak directly with the CEO of Envato to explain a few things… Now that he has destroyed the marketplace, his main focus seems to be on Elements. But honestly, it feels like game over.

Elements is advertised as ā€œunlimited,ā€ but these days I never need to pay for an image or stock footage—you can find plenty for free, and AI is getting better every day. So what’s left? I wouldn’t be surprised if soon we all get an email telling us to either add our code items to Elements or leave. Who knows what other wild idea he’s cooking up in his head?

The sad part is that fixing Envato would actually be simple—a maximum one year of work. Just decouple Elements from the marketplace, be transparent, stop the false advertising, and return focus to the authors. The rest would fall into place naturally. But it seems this guy is determined to shut Envato down instead, and to shut us up he closed the forum WTF, what is wrong with him… is this what CEO’s study how to f… up their employees

I agree with you 100%

I think some smart-ass executives were sitting in a meeting and very confidently proclaimed ā€œelements = subscriptions = sustainable revenue, the future, etc etcā€.

Complete and total failure, AI is here to destroy it.

You know, in the AI era, having a marketplace like CodeCanyon or WPBay is huge. From what I’ve noticed, people are starting to understand that AI is just a tool. Even if someday it gets good enough to generate a professional plugin from just a prompt, there will still be a need for real support.

Do you really think an electrician has the time (or interest) to dive deep into the rabbit hole of coding with zero knowledge? Of course not. That’s why products like the ones we sell here will be more valuable than ever—because users know they can contact the author, ask questions, and get real help. That human connection will matter more and more in the near future.

From what I see, the AI bubble is starting to burst. Yes, AI is powerful, but at the end of the day—it’s just a tool.

As for CEOs… well, bad leadership usually brings bad outcomes, with only a few exceptions. Honestly, I believe WPBay will continue to grow, while Envato will keep falling unless their CEO is replaced. Taking a company from a $1B valuation down to $300M in just two years doesn’t exactly scream ā€œgood management.ā€

I really don’t understand what’s going on with Hichame Assi (LinkedIn). To me, it’s always been clear: Envato was never about offering unlimited ā€œcrappyā€ stuff—it was about curating limited, high-quality items from talented authors. He completely missed that point, and in the process killed his business.

Only an author can truly fix Envato as its next CEO—an author devoted to the platform, like myself or others who have lived this journey. With over 50,000 sales, I know what clients want and how this business really works. More importantly, I love what I do. In many ways, I am the complete opposite of what Envato has now in a CEO.

But unfortunately, we live in a world where even worse things happen—where leaders (Putin and others) act out of arrogance and stupidity, causing needless destruction. It’s a reminder that bad leadership always brings suffering, whether in politics or in business.

But you know what? In a strange way, I’m grateful. Without his missteps, I might never have built my own site and store—and WPBay might not even exist today. In the end, he’ll feel the consequences of those choices.

Sure it will be more difficult but I am up for the challange ! Mr Assi can’t close the WPbay forum

You would be wasting your time because they are so well off, why would they even listen to you or me, or us? I understand why you say that, and god knows, I have felt like that often - but you need to understand like I have done and accepted - You are just a GRUNT. Someone who made them get rich.

I know… just saying…

I am almost done with my website I will be able to sell my plugins on my own and also upload all my plugins here and I am planning to start a YouTube channel to teach my daughter to code and others as well but the idea is to start from zero and create a full plugin to sell the entire process. After that, we will see..

Is hard to believe that Envato is dying in such a stupid way, forcing us to do crazy things like new marketplaces. I am sure WPbay is just the beginning, there will be others.

I use this site to teach my daughter coding, it is really fun: https://www.codemonkey.com/
