I just read an interview with Katie from Barn2. Apparently business is getting tough for her also, AI is changing everything, Google traffic is also down, they hit the dreaded plateau.
Her company’s current revenue: $1.6 million per year. Meanwhile, most of us here are refreshing our seller dashboards every day hoping to see a new sale arrive.
Jokes aside, I actually found it interesting because it shows that even companies doing $10M+ lifetime sales are feeling the same pressure many of us are feeling now - AI overviews from Google, AI allowing people to write their own code and plugins… the difference is that when your business plateaus at $1.6M/year, you have “a bit more” time to figure out your next move.
Anyway, back to work! Also, if in the future, anyone catches me crying about a $1.6M/year plateau, please remind me of this post.
But $1.6M is not that much to be honest. It’s a respectable number of course, but more in ‘hard working small business owner’ territory than ‘fuck-you money super rich’ territory.
Anyway, what do you think about her being so open and out there and a public person? Personally I’m not sure I’d want to put my name, photo and revenue out there like that. Not judging, just curious how everyone sees that. Is that a good decision, or is it wiser to stay as anonymous and rich as possible?
I wish we would all plateau at 1.6 mil per year but yes the industry is really bad BUT I know it will get better, trust me I am in this game since 2000 !
Well, if you want to become “an influencer” or at least to get some attention in the online space, the easiest way to make your money public and people will flock to follow you, to learn how you did it.
If you don’t want any of this stuff, it is clearly better to lay low and fly under the radar, as much as possible.
I am missing about six grand to be a power elite but now I am broke… all I made more than 1 mil in total cash went on doctors to stay alive.. crazy… anyway I wonder when I will start the course if is a good idea to talk about the money subject… I think si best to be open and honest that to hide things!
