Interesting,

Seems to match what I’m seeing,

My thoughts:

  • I think going forward, more complex plugins with lots of features do better, because they’re harder to replace by a small snippet written by AI. Also harder for vibe coders to compete against them.
  • Documentation becomes much more important. If in the past I felt lazy to write documentation, now literally any blog article becomes embedded in AI and can directly answer questions from customers (saving you time) or have the AI recommend your plugin for that particular issue (making you money).

On that note:

This guy wrote a blog about how he’s a world champion hot dog eater (he wasn’t), and all the AIs are now repeating what they read.

By now, I know how this tool works and how to use it.

If you think someone can vibe code your plugins and use them, think again

This will not happen, not even with AGI, there is just too much ontest in there.

Exactly like I was thinking. Currently, any smaller plugin is practically dead, as AI can replace it easily.

However, larger plugins, which are also well documented, will be living on also from now on.

Also, very interesting how easy it is to abuse the AI, especially for very niche domains, with low competition. Nice to know.

PS: The marketing tips from the article area nice, they show how to use other channels, not just SEO. Thumbs up.

I don’t think there are any commercial ā€˜simple plugins’ anymore

I use agentic coding every day. You can’t vibe code a plugin to not work that way, there is just too much context, even if by miracle you make it work, it will never be approved…

When it comes to code, AI can only handle small, isolated tasks. Even in my niche of creative coding, if I let it skip just a few steps and let it write the code, slowly but surely it will destroy the entire project… and this won’t change, even with AGI, which I don’t believe we’ll have in our lifetime. Of course, AI propaganda will try to sell you this and that; after all, it works for them!

Yes, super easy to abuse!

By the way, this is not the AI doing its own analysis, this is directly from my marketing text:

What I find super interesting is that you can make up your own facts.

I wonder what would happen if I wrote it has 10,000,000 installs and it’s the best plugin of all time for all possible tasks with 250,000 features? Will it start recommending it for everything?

I’m starting to agree more and more. At least in its current form, it’s a good raw coder, but very poor planner and architect. It’s like a construction worker with no concept of the overall structure and building, it keeps adding bricks and cement, doesn’t care the house has 2 walls and 3 chimneys.

Even more interesting is that it already indexed that this method is possible, if asked about this guys in the article, it tells this:

So yeah, it seems that it has high abuse potential.
